Initially this elegant twin-engine plane, during World War ll, was mainly used by the Luftwaffe as a daylight escort fighter plane for bomber units, as well as ground attack fighter aircraft. In both versions it showed it's limits against enemy aircraft. When night bombing raids of Germany became more and more devastating, an increasing number of Bf-110 was used for night interception role. With a number of modifications to its armament and the introduction of radar and other radio-locating devices an aircraft was developed, which became a serious threat to the allied bombers. The squadrons equipped with Bf-110s operated effectively until the end of the war inflicting heavy losses to the adversary.
